With more than 54% of its energy consumption coming from renewable sources, the country has managed to reduce its carbon footprint through a combination of wind, solar, hydroelectric and biomass energy. Sweden implements policies such as carbon taxes and subsidies for renewable energy, encouraging the transition to a clean energy model.

Denmark is also worth mentioning, with approximately 47% of its electricity consumption coming from wind energy. Its focus on wind farms and clear emission reduction objectives has established a model to follow. Germany, for its part, has adopted the “Energiewende”, promoting solar and wind energy generation through supportive policies.

The situation in Mexico

Mexico is in an intermediate position in the adoption of renewable energy. Although around 30% of its electricity generation comes from clean sources, recent policies have created uncertainty about the future of the sector. However, the country has great potential to expand its green energy capacity, thanks to its geographical location and abundant natural resources.

Green energy leaders have established models that others can follow. Mexico, despite the challenges, can move in this direction with favorable policies and investments in clean energy, which would allow it to improve its position in the global arena.
